Ritual Continues with Non Stop Bhangra #68! This month we take it back to the basics--Dj's spinning kick ass tunes, wicked live dhol beats with colorful rhythms and non stop dancing. Come join us as we continue this monthly celebration of life with good music, friends, and smiles. One of a kind cultural experience!

This month we bring a bit of a Reggae vibe to the already bouncing rhythms of Bhangra with one of our favorite guests, DJ Sep from Dubmission! As always DJ Jimmy Love and Rav-E will be holding down the decks alongside Dj Sep while Dholrhythms Dance Company holds down the floor! We are also excited to bring back Amar Gill from last month, rocking out the powerful dhol beats alongside Rav-E. Marcus Murray will be on hand to add his beautiful artwork to the NSB live painting collection.

The Theme is Reggae colors, so come supporting your favorite Ragga gear~

For those that don't know what NSB is:

WHAT IS NON STOP BHANGRA?

NSB TEDXSF PRESENTATION

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Featured on the Second Saturday of every month at Public Works, NON STOP BHANGRA is a unique experience that celebrates the beautiful and vibrant spirit of Bhangra, a traditional Punjabi folk music and dance.

Imagine a scene from a Bollywood movie smack in the middle of a thumping nightclub-swirling colors, the rhythm of pounding feet, & the relentless energy of brilliant beats -that's NON STOP BHANGRA!

Highlighting the ancestral roots of Punjabi dance while pushing boundaries with contemporary influences, Non Stop Bhangra is a genre-busting elixir of North Indian Bhangra music and dance, mixed with reggae, hip-hop, and electronica. An ever-evolving collective of dancers, DJs, drummers, vocalists, and musicians, Non Stop Bhangra is a non-stop party. Featuring dance lessons and performances with Dholrhythms Dance Company, and music by DJ Jimmy Love, alongside live Dhol players, live painting, and visuals, the group has won legions of fans with its monthly events in San Francisco.

Non Stop Bhangra was founded in 2004 when Dholrhythms founders Vicki Virk and Suman Raj teamed up with DJ Jimmy Love with the goal of bringing Bhangra to a wider audience. The first Non Stop Bhangra was hosted to celebrate the one year anniversary of Dholrhythms by providing a dance space for students of Dholrhythms Bhangra classes. Since then, NSB has made this traditional style a serious dance floor craze in San Francisco, drawing the most diverse crowds to join in the frenzy. NSB is a destination, creating sold out nights and write-ups as one of the best dance floor nights in San Francisco.

After 7 years of full capacity shows, in 2012, the award winning production moved into one of the hottest clubs in the city, Public Works. With this move comes later hours, more room to dance and late night food provided by Kasa Indian. Becoming one of the ambassadors for the sound of Bhangra in the US, the vision for the New Year is to expand on the experience. With some killer surprise guests lined up in the New Year, Non Stop Bhangra is ready to take West Coast Bhangra to a whole new level!

In addition to the monthly event, the group has performed at some of the largest stages in the West Coast including San Francisco’s renowned Stern Grove Festival, TED XSF at Yerba Buena Center For the Arts, Goldman Environmental Prize Ceremony at War Memorial Opera House, Inaugration Ceremony of Mayor Ed Lee at SF City Hall, Michael Franti’s Power to the Peaceful in Golden Gate Park, New Mexico’s ¡Globalquerque!, Grand Performances in Los Angeles, Pasadena’s Levitt Pavilion, and Canada’s Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Festival and many more.
